It was another busy holiday season for the Kinsmen Club of the Miramichi!

The month of December our “elves” were out shopping for over 250 children. Thanks to the Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Campaign for raising over $30000 and smashing last years total. Thanks to everyone for supporting this great cause. A special thanks goes out to the teachers in the schools who helped coordinate the wish lists with the families and children. Without all of this support, this project wouldn’t be as successful as it is!

On Sunday, December 15th we co-hosted the 28th Annual Seniors Supper with the Newcastle Lions Club. We had the largest turnout in years with over 525 dinners served and collected over 2000 items for the food bank along with $158 in cash donations. Thanks to the Newcastle Lions Club for cooking the spectacular meal, we received many compliments and great feedback.

Just two weeks prior to the Seniors Support, we donated $2500 to the Miramichi Food Bank during their grand opening ceremonies at their new facility. Over 400+ families use the food bank every month and this new building will allow them to serve their clients better with increased storage capacity and accessibility. This donation, along with the collection at the Seniors Supper brings our total donation to the food bank to just under $5000 this year!
