Hal Rogers Fellow Presentation for Dan Bradford
The Hal Rogers Fellow is the highest award the Kin Canada Foundation can bestow upon a member. This award was established to recognize Canadians who, by their leadership, accomplishments, and community endeavors, have demonstrated the high ideals to which Kin Canada Founder, Hal Rogers, was committed.
This past summer at Kin Canada’s Annual General Meeting (National Kinvention) Past Governor Vicki Andrews was asked to accept this award on behalf of Dan’s family as well as a portrait painted by Dave Sopha from Kin Canada Foundation through The 49th Parallel North Fund. He was the artist behind the Portraits of Honour, which were proudly displayed here in Miramichi on November 6th, 2011. The objective of the 49th Parallel North Fund is to honor and show respect to our fallen Canadian First Responders, which, in the eyes of the Foundation, included Dan. Vicki accepted both of these awards with a promise to present it to Dan’s family.
On the evening of October 3rd, the Miramichi Kinsmen proudly hosted the presentation of this award and portrait to the family of Dan Bradford. Dan was a member of the Miramichi Kinsmen for 10 years and exemplified all of these qualities. He was active in all levels of the Association, the most recent being a Director on the National Board of Directors for Kin Canada.
The National Board of Directors also presented Vicki with Dan’s Board of Directors shirt to be given to the club. This shirt was placed on Dan’s seat at all Board meetings throughout the year. Jason Andrews, a Director on the current National Board of Directors presented this to the club.
It was a bittersweet evening on the anniversary that we lost Dan. We would like to thank all family, friends and fellow Kin who were able to attend. A special thank you to Vicki and Jason Andrews for accepting and presenting these awards on behalf of the Foundation and Board.
