Miramichi Kinsmen Donate to Kin Canada Foundation
On June 26th at their last meeting of the Kin Year. The members of the Miramichi Kinsmen voted to donate $1000
to the Kin Canada Foundation. In addition to the donation the club members also voted to include the Foundation in their
annual service budget.
The 2007-08 donation will be made
at National Convention in Lethbridge, AB. Jim Watson, President of the Kin Canada Foundation is very pleased that the Miramichi Kinsmen has
taken this step. They are the first club in the Association to make the Foundation as part of their annual budget and
we want to let the other clubs to know, so that it might start the ball rolling. The Kin Canada Foundation was founded in 2005 to further Kin Canada's mission of community service. The Foundation is a registered charitable
corporation supported by voluntary contributions from Kinsmen, Kinettes and friends of the Kin Canada Foundation. The
Foundation assists the Association by working to raise funds to enable Kinsmen, Kinette and Kin clubs and to be
better serve Canadian communities. Numerous Canadian charities will also be direct beneficiaries of the Foundation's
funds.

Congratulations to Founder Hal and Kin Canada
The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF) would like to congratulate the late Kin Canada founder, Harold
(Hal) Rogers, for being recognized by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) as one Canada’s greatest!
As part of the October 17th nation-wide CBC broadcast, Hal Rogers was nominated as the 22nd greatest Canadian
of all-time. Founder Hal’s profile, included on www.cbc.ca/greatest, reads as follows:
Harold Rogers 1899 – 1994
Encouraged by his father to join the Rotary Club, he held his own meeting with a small group of friends instead,
and in 1920, The Kinsmen Club was born. Today, Kinsmen and Kinettes promote positive values and foster national pride through
their fundraising projects and work with the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Each member of Kin Canada should share in this wonderful accomplishment, and we at the CCFF are very proud
to be associated with such a great all-Canadian association!
Other great Canadians include Celine Dion (#27), the Foundation’s Celebrity Patron, former Prime Minister
Brian Mulroney (#64), husband of Mila Mulroney, the Foundation’s Honorary Director, and the late Sandra Schmirler (#81),
Canada’s queen of curling, and a passionate supporter of the CCFF.
