Miramichi Kinsmen give out Club Awards
On Saturday June 20th
tha Kinsmen Club of the Miramichi, held their annual year end party, to celebrate another successful year of "Serving
the Community's Greatest Need".
The club was please to have Zone Deputy Governor Bob Brannen of Fredericton
in attendance to install the new executive. The club also presented their annual club awards.

On Saturday, May 2, the Kinsmen Club of the Miramichi
celebrated their 57th Anniversary with a dinner and dance at Beaverbrook Kin Centre, starting with cocktails at 6:30 p.m.
and dinner at 7:30 p.m.As part of the anniversary night,
the club awarded (posthumously) Life Member and Charter Member Willis Dickison with the prestigious Hal Rogers Fellow Award
for his life-long service to not only the Kinsmen Club of the Miramichi, but to the whole community at large.
Club President John Gallant said, "The members are extremely
honoured to present this award to Willis' family, not only because it is the first time that we have presented the award,
but also because this will be the first time it is presented in Atlantic Canada and few have been presented nationally!"
The prestigious Hal Rogers Fellow (HRF) program,
started in 2007, recognizes individual Kin, Associate Members, alumni, as well as non-Kin who, by their leadership, accomplishments
and community endeavours, have demonstrated the high ideals to which Kin Canada Founder Hal Rogers was committed. The Hal
Rogers Fellow is the highest award conferred by the Kin Canada Foundation. Proceeds will assist in the creation of a permanent
endowment fund that will continue to support the work of Kin Canada and its Foundation.
The Miramichi Kinsmen was chartered on May 1, 1952 as the Kinsmen Club of Newcastle.
In 1992 the club officially changed its name to the Kinsmen Club of the Miramichi Inc. The local club has a membership of
22 and has donated in excess of $3.2 million back to the community.
The Deputy Mayor Nancy Lordon bought congratulations from the City and a tributte to Life Member
Willis was given by Life Member Clarrie Hale. President John Gallant and President Elect Tim Saunders presented
the award to L.M. Willis wife, L.M. Grace and their children. Willis’ son Dodie spoke on behalf of the
Dickison family and were proud to accept this prestigous award in recognition of the contribution his father made to the Miramichi
community.

The Kinsmen Club of the Miramichi will be holding its 10th
Annual Big Buck night on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Beaverbrook Kin Centre. This year's special 10th Anniversary Grand
Prize will be a Yamaha 450 Rhino, supplied by Rae's Trailer and Sport Centre.As in the past there will be prizes for first, second and third place in the buck contest of $1000,
$500, and $250 respectively. The buck antlers are scored on total mass without any deductions for symmetry.There will also many door prizes available for those who weren't lucky enough
to bag a buck this year or for those who do not hunt."We
really wanted to make a big deal on our 10th anniversary of this popular event," said project co-chair Tom King. "So
we've increased our door prize structure for this year's contest as well as the commitment to award the Rhino as the
grand prize."The Miramichi Kinsmen are asking
that any past buck winners contact the Beaverbrook Kin Centre, phone 622- 4046, as they are hoping to have a display of past
winners. "We were hoping that we could get in touch with the past winners and see if they could bring their mounts to
display during the evening to compare the winners over the past years," explained Tim Saunders the other co-chair of
the project.This year's tickets are $40 and are
available at Miramichi Fishing and Hunting, Shikes in Sunny Corner, Brennan's Irving in Blackville, Rightway Convenience
in Renous, Courtesy Convenience in Nordin, the Beaverbrook Kin Centre or from any Kinsmen member.
The Miramichi
Kinsmen support many causes in the Miramichi area through funding from projects such as this one. This year the club has supported
the digital mammogram campaign, the new Harkins playground, cystic fibrosis and multiple sclerosis research, high school scholarships
and families in need throughout the Miramichi Region.
