MIRAMICHI KINSMEN ENCOURAGES LOCAL STUDENTS TO
“PAY IT FORWARD”
The Miramichi
Kinsmen Club members are encouraging local middle school students to be creative and “Pay it Forward” in an effort
to encourage the spirit of giving in a very unique manner. Instead of payment
back for an effort, requests are made to pay it forward to help three people. When
the three people ask how they can pay it back, they are asked to pay it forward again to three more people, in hope that the
concept will continue and grow exponentially.
Vice Principals
Nancy Blackmore from Harkins Middle School, Wayne Mullin from Dr. Losier and Jennifer Sullivan from Nelson Rural have each
been given $1000 for their schools to participate in “Pay it Forward.” Students
are encouraged to think of an idea for community change, and put it into action. The
Kinsmen Club’s seed money is to stress that change is possible and changes can affect social growth.
The Miramichi
Kinsmen Club realize that middle school students are no strangers to charitable giving through their fund raising initiatives,
however, the Kinsmen Club is encouraging the students to funnel their energies and imaginations in a creative challenge to
distribute the funds by making a positive difference in our community.
“It
is anticipated that students will experience the satisfaction and impact of giving and hopefully continue the trend of assisting
others in need as a life practice. They are inspired to realize that they can
change our community and we gave them the opportunity to do so”, said Kinsmen Club Member Steve Myles, “we will
follow up with each school in the new year to determine how their money was used, and we very much look forward to the end
results”.
The Miramichi
Kinsmen Club raises funds to service our community’s greatest needs and works diligently throughout the year on various
projects to fulfill that commitment. If you would like further information
