The Kinsmen Club of the Miramichi hosted its 8th Annual Big Buck night on Saturday November 25, 2006 at the Beaverbrook Kin Centre to a sold out crowd.  This event has become a successful fundraising project for the club since it began in 1999.  There were 21 heads entered for the contest vying for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.  Stanson Donovan won third prize of $250.00 with a score of 135.  Terry O’Donnell won second prize of $500.00 with a score of 135 and 7/8.  Jonathon Foran claimed the Grand Prize of $1000.00 and a free trophy mount with a score of 138 and 1/8.  All three winners received an Alexander Keith’s jacket with their other prizes.  All buck entrants were eligible for a draw for a free trophy mount, which was won by Sean Hare.  The trophy mounts were supplied by Gerry Poirier of Poirier’s Taxidermy in Moncton.

There were also many door prizes available for those that weren’t lucky enough to bag a buck this year or for those that do not hunt.  Ernest Savoie won the Grand Prize, which was open to all ticket holders, of a Yamaha 400cc Ultramatic 4 wheeler.  Rae’s Trailer and Sport Centre in Nordin and Yamaha Canada sponsored this prize; owner Rae Trevors drew the winning ticket from the drum.  Sylvie Hannah won the consolation prize of a Budweiser package sponsored by Budweiser.

The Miramichi Kinsmen would like to thank all the sponsors of this event as well the ticket outlets, which have all contributed to the success of this project.  Thanks also go out to scorer Elisha (Lichy) Johnstone and his son Clarke for their help and to Emcee Randy Urquhart for his great job.  The Club would also like to extend a sincere thanks to all those who purchased tickets and attended the event, without your support the project would not have become the success that it is.
