Policies & Procedures
Mission:
The Children’s Trust Fund
is a registered (1994) charity operated by NewCap Broadcasting through its Halifax Radio Stations Q104 FM / Kool FM 96dot5
/ 780 KIXX Country. The mission of the charity is to provide financial assistance
to children (clients) who find themselves in critical need due to a medical condition or other forms of unfortunate circumstances.
Qualifications for Assistance:
The categories of need would
be defined as: Any financial requirement stemming from a medical treatment, as
recommended by a physician or therapist, including expenses for medicines (not covered by MSI), apparatus, therapy, travel
(to receive treatment), quality of life needs (relating to proper development), assistive technology (as required for proper
development) and clinical developmental education. Personal computers will not
be considered, however, software programs for a PC will. ( if required for proper development).
The Children’s Trust Fund
will assist children up to the age of 18.
The Children’s Trust Fund
has within its mandate, the ability to assist an individual client on more than one occasion, up until the age of 18. This would be done only as a demand of first time clients allows. First time requests will take priority.
Assistance Granting Process:
All requests for assistance must
be made through an application process, available at the offices of The Children’s Trust Fund, 2900 Agricola Street,
Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3K 6B2. Or the application can be faxed from the office. Phone 493-2752.
All applications will be forwarded
to a committee made up of station management and staff. This committee, advised
by the Trust Fund Coordinator, will decide the level of assistance granted to the client.
All applications are judged according to condition’s urgency, charity’s ability to financially respond,
other forms of assistance available to client and condition’s relation to the Trust Fund’s mandate. (Not necessarily in this order)
Promotion:
The Children’s Trust Fund
requests permission to use the names and pictures of all children assisted in promotion of the Trust Fund. This is not a requirement for the granting of assistance and in no way effects decisions concerning granting
of requested assistance.
